The international conference Healthy Urban Landscapes of the Future took place in the Centre of Interdisciplinary Research (ZiF) as Institute for Advanced Study of Bielefeld University on 3rd and 4th of November 2014.
The conference was the fourth interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary conference in the series of conferences “City of the Future” of the Fritz and Hildegard Berg-foundation in the German “Stifterverband: Promoting Science and Education”.
The aim of this series of conferences is to establish the international highly topical area of research Urban Health in Germany and to hit a science – practical – dialogue on the base of actual research results on a national level.
The aim of Bielefeld’s specialist conference was to point out interdisciplinary and practically oriented approaches for a healthy sustainable development of urban areas in Germany. The conference focused on the following four aspects:
- urban green spaces & health
- urban structures of stretch of water (urban blue spaces) & healt
- Possible approaches and innovative ways for a healthy urban development (Urban health)
- Transdisciplinary research approaches
The conference was organized by the Young Researchers Group Urban Landscapes & Health under Prof. Dr. Claudia Hornberg’s and Dr. Thomas Claßen’s stewardship in cooperation with and supported by the Fritz and Hildegard Berg-Foundation.
